Fun Is Over
Broken balloons caught on barbed wire - childhood joy interrupted by harsh reality.

About this series
Walking through Poznań, I encountered colorful broken balloons hanging on rusty barbed wire - a scene that crystallized profound contradictions for me. The juxtaposition was immediately striking: remnants of childhood joy entangled with barriers designed for conflict and separation. In this series, I explore the sharp contrasts between innocence and experience, celebration and violence, play and war. The deflated balloons represent the fragility of happiness when confronted with harsh reality. Their bright colors, now faded and torn, create a melancholic dialogue with the cold, unforgiving metal that holds them captive. Each photograph captures a moment where childhood dreams collide with adult understanding. The repetitive color patterns visible throughout the series echo the cyclical nature of hope and disappointment - how joy can be interrupted, contained, or destroyed by forces beyond our control.
Inspiration
The visceral impact of seeing childhood symbols trapped by instruments of conflict - a visual metaphor for lost innocence.
Technical Notes
Natural lighting emphasized the textural contrasts between soft balloon material and harsh metal, while preserving the authentic emotional atmosphere.
